The Goleman Gators suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They were beaten by American 83-39. Goleman was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-20.
Several Gators players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michael Gonzalez, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Otero-Puriaman, who scored ten points.
American's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Angel Torres, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Jonathan Garcia was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Goleman's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for American, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Goleman won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against International Studies at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. International Studies is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for American, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Miami Springs at 7:30 p.m. Miami Springs comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
