A.J. Cecil threw four touchdowns and
Christian McCaffrey caught three as
Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) upset Doherty (Colorado Springs, Colo.) 42-6 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a McCaffrey touchdown run in the first quarter, the Eagles were up 35-0 at the half.
Valor Christian expanded its lead to 42 points entering the fourth quarter. VC scored once in the quarter on an Cecil touchdown pass to
Marcus Wilson.
With the win the Highlands Ranch school extended its winning streak to five games. Valor Christian defeated Castle View 56-7 last week.
Doherty's only touchdown came on a run in the fourth quarter.
The Eagles came into the game allowing 9.2 points per game. Doherty's six points were well below their season average of 44.8 per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 49-7 win for Valor Christian.
The loss comes after Doherty defeated Rock Canyon 53-28 last week.
