The Owatonna Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 64-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mankato East. While losing is never fun, Owatonna can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Mankato East is ranked 107th).
Morgan Fisher and Jersey Coleman certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Fisher scored 16 points, while Coleman scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Carsyn Brady, who scored five points along with seven steals.
Owatonna bumped their record down to 4-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Mankato East, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Owatonna will be playing at home against Lakeville North at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Lakeville North's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matches. As for Mankato East, they will head out on the road to face off against Mahtomedi at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
