While Kings Mountain put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Ashbrook. The Mountaineers put the hurt on the Greenwave with a sharp 20-0 victory. Considering the Mountaineers have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Anna Wooten made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs.
In other batting news, Kings Mountain got a massive performance out of Kayla McSwain, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Avery Cruise was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Kings Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .692. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The win made it two in a row for Kings Mountain and bumps their season record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Ashbrook, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-13.
