The Sundown Roughnecks were the 39-26 winner over the Tahoka Bulldogs when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Sundown was outmatched by Tahoka on the road and fell 42-14. Sundown has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tahoka to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zane Garvin, who rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Ruben Arguello did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 121 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Sundown's loss was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 3-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.9 points per game. As for Tahoka, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Sundown will square off against Stratford at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Stratford's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last seven contests. As for Tahoka, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Panhandle at 7:30 p.m. Panhandle presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Tahoka in Texas (Panhandle is ranked 342nd, while Tahoka is ranked 1014th).
