No. 18 St. Edward (8-1) wants to continue climbing the national rankings and enter next week's Division I state playoffs with a full head of steam. Meanwhile, St. Ignatius (5-3) must beat its rival or risk missing out on the playoffs for just the third time since 1988.
St. Ignatius owns a 28-23-1 edge in this series all-time, but the teams have split their last six meetings dating back to 2010.
Names to watch: Indiana-committed senior running back
Cole Gest eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards for the season as St. Edward scored 49 unanswered points in a 49-17 win over Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati) last week. It was the Eagles' sixth consecutive win.
Notre Dame-bound offensive tackle
Liam Eichenberg helped pave the way for St. Ignatius' come-from-behind win over St. Xavier (Cincinnati). The Wildcats outscored the Bombers, 24-7, in the second half.
