The Fox Valley Lutheran Fox will head out to face off against the Seymour Thunder at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Fox Valley Lutheran had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt New London on Tuesday. The Fox were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Bulldogs. The win was just business as usual for the Fox, who after 14 games remain undefeated this season.
Meanwhile, Seymour hadn't done well against Menasha recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Thunder's pitcher stepped up to hand the Bluejays a 15-0 shutout. That 15-run margin sets a new team best for the Thunder this season.
Kendra Rettler made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lyla Schueler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Adde Smith, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Seymour kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive matchups.
Fox Valley Lutheran's record is now 14-0. As for Seymour, their record now sits at 12-2.
Fox Valley Lutheran came out on top in a nail-biter against Seymour in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fox since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
