The Ridgeview Wolf Pack's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They and Highland were almost perfectly matched up, but Ridgeview suffered an agonizing 29-28 loss. Ridgeview gained 145 more yards on the day, but it was Highland that made the best of use of them.
Ridgeview's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jayson Grant, who rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also picked up 63 receiving yards. Grant was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 63 yards. Angel Corona also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Ridgeview's loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-0 Frontier and 9-4 Hanford (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.5% over those games). As for Highland, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Ridgeview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Highland will head out on the road to face off against Exeter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
