Dexter hasn't had much luck against Orono recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Riots at 4:30 p.m. Dexter's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Orono's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Orono will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Dexter extended their winning streak to three on Saturday. The Tigers came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against Bangor Christian. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since June 12, 2025.
Noah Kain was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Isiah Robinson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Orono made sure to put some runs up on the board against Central on Friday. The Riots put the hurt on the Red Devils with a sharp 12-2 victory. Considering the Riots' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Kason Bagley made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Calum Bryant, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matthew Fluty, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Orono always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Dexter's record now sits at 5-1. As for Orono, their record is now 2-3.
Dexter skirted past Orono 6-5 when the teams last played back in June of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
