Baseball Recap: Corvallis Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last seven games, Corvallis finally came back down to earth on Wednesday. They fell 5-2 to the West Albany Bulldogs. The Spartans have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Andrew Street spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits.

On the hitting side, Axel Prechel was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to doubles, as he's now hit two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Corvallis' loss dropped their record down to 19-6. As for West Albany, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

While Corvallis had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
