Montville is a perfect 4-0 against Wheeler since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Wolves will take on the Lions at 10:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Montville turned things around against Plainfield on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers an 11-0 shutout. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wolves' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Abby Daniewicz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Jainna Lesniewski was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Natalie Lutyen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Montville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Wheeler made easy work of New London on Friday and carried off a 16-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Whalers: they've now won seven in a row.
Victoria Kleeman looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Isabella Deledda, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Addie Stanley was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Montville pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Wheeler, their record now sits at 10-7.
Montville took their victory against Wheeler when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-3 score. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
