Burns had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Shelby on Wednesday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Golden Lions with a sharp 17-1 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by 12 runs or more this season.

The win (which was Burns' fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Shelby, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Coming up, Burns will take on R-S Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hilltoppers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Shelby does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
