The Corona del Sol Aztecs entered their tilt with the Desert Vista Thunder with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Corona del Sol took down the Thunder 70-56 on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Corona del Sol's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from DeShaun Johnson, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Bo Dolinsek was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Desert Vista lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Damian (DJ) Spencer, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lorenzo (LJ) Diamond, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Corona del Sol's win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Desert Vista, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-6.
Corona del Sol and the Pride will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Mountain Pointe will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Aztecs are ranked 46th). As for Desert Vista, they and the Jaguars will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Desert Ridge is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
