Softball Recap: Dixie Sets Scoring Season-High Against Moapa Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dixie). They put the hurt on the Moapa Valley Pirates with a sharp 14-2 victory on Saturday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Flyers as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Morgan Staheli was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eliza Kesterson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Layla London was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Dixie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Dixie's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Moapa Valley, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.

Dixie will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair will be back at it again later today.
