The Centerville Tigers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Latexo 78-54. Given Centerville's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 631st, while the Tigers are ranked 1402nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wade Neyland was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 17 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 22 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trayce Schwab, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Centerville's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Latexo, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-19 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centerville will face off against the Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lovelady and the Tigers are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Latexo, they will head out on the road to square off against the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Groveton is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
