Highland is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Bath County an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Highland Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bath County Chargers at 5:00 p.m. Highland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Highland turned things around against Craig County on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Rockets with a sharp 10-2 win.

John Wagner made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Zach Armstrong was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Tristan Carpenter was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Highland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Craig County only posted an OBP of .125.
Meanwhile, Bath County hadn't done well against Craig County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Chargers came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 7-3.
Like Highland, Bath County also got a great game from a two-way player: I Ingram. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Ingram was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on M Phillips, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that he snagged this season. Another player making a difference was O Perdue, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Bath County's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Highland, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-5.
Highland took their victory against Bath County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
