Given Africentric Early College's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while South is ranked 478th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Africentric Early College to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kamryn Grant, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. Grant hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Natiah Nelson was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Independence suffered their biggest defeat since November 29, 2023 last Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 57-27 loss at the hands of Walnut Ridge. Independence has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Africentric Early College's victory was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 54.2 points. As for Independence, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Africentric Early College against Independence when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 95-8 victory.
