Softball Recap: Randolph School Extends Winning Streak to Three

Randolph School had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Tanner Rattlers 14-1. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

Julianne Jones made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Randolph School got a massive performance out of Madison Moore, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one triple. Those three hits gave Moore a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Vieve Berglund, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4.

Randolph School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.6.

Randolph School's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-10. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Tanner, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Randolph School will venture away from home to take on Lindsay Lane Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Tanner, they will square off against Falkville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rattlers are facing the Blue Devils at the right time seeing as the Blue Devils are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
