Last Friday, Immanuel Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Christ Chapel Academy, taking the game 67-56.
Immanuel Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gus Jackson, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 1 assist. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jackson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Josh Choat, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Virginia Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 79-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of Catholic. While losing is never fun, Virginia Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while Catholic is ranked 15th).
Immanuel Christian's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Virginia Academy, they dropped their record down to 4-22 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
