The Franklin Yellowjackets will head out on the road to square off against the Weston Ranch Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Franklin is hoping to put an end to a 14-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Franklin suffered their biggest loss since December 16, 2023 on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 85-47 loss at the hands of Chavez. Franklin was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-24.
Meanwhile, Weston Ranch entered their tilt with McNair with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Weston Ranch really took it to McNair for the full four quarters, racking up a 113-34 victory at home. Weston Ranch's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Weston Ranch can attribute much of their success to Mateen Rafiq, who scored 31 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, and Darrion Lilly, who scored 36 points along with six assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lilly has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Richard Banks, who scored 11 points along with seven steals and six assists.
Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Weston Ranch, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
Franklin was taken down by Weston Ranch 106-26 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Franklin was down 57-14.
