Delsea will face off against Bishop Eustace Prep at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Delsea 2.4, Bishop Eustace Prep 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Delsea fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Cumberland on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Colts by a score of 10-9. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Crusaders, who until this game were averaging 2.44 runs allowed.
Conner Harrison was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Cole Hudson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Resiek, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, Bishop Eustace Prep was able to grind out a solid win over Rancocas Valley on Thursday, taking the game 9-6. The Crusaders haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Roman Faiola was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Dante Bell was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Bishop Eustace Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rancocas Valley only posted an OBP of .412.
Having lost for the first time this season, Delsea fell to 17-1. As for Bishop Eustace Prep, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
Delsea might still be hurting after the 14-4 defeat they got from Bishop Eustace Prep in their previous matchup back in April of 2017. Can Delsea avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
