Sonora has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Sunny Hills Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, Sonora came up short against Lakewood and fell 62-52.
Meanwhile, Sunny Hills unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 70-60 to Huntington Beach. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (59), Sunny Hills still had to take the loss.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kamron Tonga, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Nathan Sanchez, who scored 11 points along with five assists.
Even though they lost, Sunny Hills were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Huntington Beach only racked up four assists.
Sonora's defeat ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5. Sunny Hills' record is now 10-3.
Sonora strolled past Sunny Hills in their previous meeting back in February by a score of 70-55. Does Sonora have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sunny Hills turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
