The South Caldwell Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight defeat. They took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Freedom. South Caldwell has not had much luck with Freedom recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lillie Bumgarner, who scored 16 points. Kennedy Setzer was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
South Caldwell has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Freedom, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Caldwell will take on Alexander Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Caldwell is coming into the contest with four straight defeats at home, meaning Alexander Central will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. Freedom will take on Ashe County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (Freedom is ranked 118th, while Ashe County is ranked 114th).
