The Franklin Road Christian Minutemen won the last time they faced the Franklin Christian Academy Falcons, and things went their way on Saturday too. Franklin Road Christian strolled past Franklin Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 61-43. Given Franklin Road Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Franklin Christian Academy is ranked 394th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Franklin Road Christian found their leader in underclassman Lakelyn Dempsey, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. That's the first time this season that Dempsey scored 15 or more points. Presley Applegate was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Franklin Road Christian and bumps their season record up to 16-4. As for Franklin Christian Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Boyd Christian the next time they take the court. Franklin Road Christian will head out to face Boyd Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, while Franklin Christian Academy will head out to face them at 1:00 p.m. on January 27th.
