The St. Luke's Storm will challenge the King Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Luke's knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully King likes a good challenge.
St. Luke's is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Greenwich Country Day just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 76-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Storm have suffered since February 12, 2024.

St. Luke's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of David Gjergji, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Tyler Newsom, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 17 points and five boards. The game was Newsom's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Wilson, who posted six points.
Even though they lost, St. Luke's smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, King had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 65-54 win over the Cardinals.
St. Luke's better keep an eye on Aj Trimboli. He was instrumental in King's win, going 8 of 16 en route to 21 points along with five assists and three steals. Another player making a difference was Krystian Gaston, who earned ten points and seven rebounds.
King pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for St. Luke's, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. St. Luke's hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 63.2 points per game. However, it's not like King struggles in that department as they've been averaging 66.7 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
St. Luke's came up short against King in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 64-56. Can St. Luke's avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
