Ava Hall and Jayni Wesley were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Hall tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Wesley tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Hall got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Wesley went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave Wesley a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jill Cavanaugh was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Reigha Ghiatis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Lawrenceburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Milan made easy work of Union County on Wednesday and carried off a 17-6 victory. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by exactly 11 runs.
Like Lawrenceburg, Milan also got a great game from a two-way player: Kynadee Bode. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Bode was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Milan got a massive performance out of Caroline McMillan, who went 2-for-3 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run. Emma Voss was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Milan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Lawrenceburg, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Lawrenceburg hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Milan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Lawrenceburg skirted past Milan 4-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
