Mission Vista lost against the St. Joseph Academy Crusaders back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Mission Vista took a hard 71-52 fall against St. Joseph Academy. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Mission Vista came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while St. Joseph Academy is ranked 320th).
Leading St. Joseph Academy to victory were Justice Ahiafor and Angel Ochoa. Ahiafor dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds, while Ochoa scored 34 points along with 5 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Ochoa has scored at least 25% of St. Joseph Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Sutherlin, who scored 5 points along with 8 rebounds.
Mission Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for St. Joseph Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Mission Vista will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Escondido Charter at 7:00 p.m. St. Joseph Academy will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Sotomayor at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. Sotomayor will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
