The Greenfield-Central Cougars will challenge the New Palestine Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenfield-Central will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
The home team had come away the winner the last six times Greenfield-Central and Yorktown had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Cougars walked away with a 9-4 win over the Tigers on Wednesday.
Brady Martin looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.

At the plate, Greenfield-Central let Dylan Luther and Jacob Welch run wild. Luther went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Welch got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two RBI gave Luther a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Zellers, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Greenfield-Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, New Palestine waltzed into their contest on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 12-0 shutout. The Dragons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Jesse Isaacs made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Morris, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Gavin Neal was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
New Palestine's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Greenfield-Central, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Greenfield-Central might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from New Palestine in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
