Basketball Recap: Arvin Piles Up the Points Against Woodlake

While Arvin didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Woodlake Tigers 63-29 on Thursday. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

Arvin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aziz Ochoa out in front who posted nine points and six steals. Ochoa has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Alejandro Montejano, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points.

The victory (which was Arvin's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Woodlake, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Arvin won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Farmersville at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Arvin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.1 points per game this season. As for Woodlake, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Woodlake Tigers duke it out with the Orosi Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
