Eagle Valley is a perfect 4-0 against Aspen since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Devils will welcome the Skiers at 3:00 p.m.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Eagle Valley and Steamboat Springs had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Devils fell 10-6 to the Sailors last Wednesday.
Eli Adams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Hudson Rozga was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Aspen). They put the hurt on Moffat County with a sharp 23-6 win on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Skiers as they're now sitting on four straight.
Mickey Marolt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since April 2nd. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Ryan Nitti was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Anzalone, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.
Aspen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Aspen's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Eagle Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
Everything went Eagle Valley's way against Aspen in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Eagle Valley made off with a 16-9 victory. Will the Devils repeat their success, or do the Skiers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
