Basketball Recap: Sandoval Takes a Loss

Sandoval was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Waltonville Spartans, falling 72-46. The game marked the Blackhawks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Sandoval still got an impressive performance from Drew Gore, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 17 points. The match was Gore's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Gordan, who posted nine points.

Waltonville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gage Peterson out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards. With that strong performance, Peterson is now averaging an impressive 8.8 rebounds per game. Kyle Cooper was another key player, going 7 of 17 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds.

Sandoval's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Waltonville, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Sandoval wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 75-60 loss against Grayville on the 13th. As for Waltonville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-34 victory against Norris City-Omaha-Enfield on the 14th.
