The Elida Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the Melrose Buffaloes at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Elida is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Elida turned things around against Floyd on Monday. They put the hurt on the Broncos with a sharp 28-7 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four matches by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Radlee Ferguson and Bodey Fraze made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Ferguson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Fraze pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Elida is undefeated when Fraze allows one or fewer hits, but 2-3 otherwise. At the plate, Ferguson went 3-for-5 with five runs, two stolen bases, and one double, while Fraze went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Fraze has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Elida got a massive performance out of Hardy Fraze, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits Fraze has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was James Dobbins, who went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Elida was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .550. Their batting average was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .389 that Floyd posted.
Meanwhile, Melrose was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Gateway Christian, falling 26-1.
Melrose saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josiah Roybal, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Roybal has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played.
Melrose now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Elida, their record now sits at 5-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Elida has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Melrose struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
