It was a good run, but the Bryan Bears unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a hard 66-50 fall against Kearney. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bryan in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was LC Doss, who scored 12 points. Rylan Rodriguez was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 11 rebounds.
It was another big night for Jacob Webber, who scored 31 points for Kearney. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Webber has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Johnson, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Bryan's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Kearney, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bryan will challenge the Bunnies at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. Benson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Bears are ranked 33rd). As for Kearney, they will head out on the road to challenge the Rockets at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. Lincoln Northeast is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
