Westwood is 0-6 against Franklin since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Westwood Panthers will look to defend their home court against the Franklin Lions at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Westwood comes in on seven and Franklin on three.
Even though Westwood has not done well against Fairfield recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Westwood came out on top against Fairfield by a score of 81-70. Given Westwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while Fairfield is ranked 907th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Westwood found their leader in underclassman Kavian Bryant, who scored 46 points along with six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bryant has scored all season. Chris Carter was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Franklin posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Buffalo with a sharp 66-43 victory.
Westwood is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Franklin, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-7.
Things could have been worse for Westwood, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-44 loss to Franklin in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Westwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
