The Bennington Badgers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Crete Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Bennington will be looking to keep their 22-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Bennington put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 76-7 win over Mount Michael Benedictine. With Bennington ahead 55-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Bennington's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxon Dumont, who rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Peyton Sanmann was another key contributor, throwing for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only eight passes.
Meanwhile, Crete got themselves on the board against Buena Vista on Friday, but Buena Vista never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the 42-0 on the road. The victory was just what Crete needed coming off of a 49-7 defeat in their prior game.
Crete relied on the efforts of Carson Kotil, who rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown, and Oscar Ortiz, who rushed for 44 yards and two touchdowns. Ty Yeager got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Bennington to 9-0 and Crete to 5-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Bennington has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 211.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Crete struggles in that department as they've been averaging 154.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
