The Chatham Cougars are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Millburn Millers at 7:00 p.m. on October 26th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Friday, Chatham came up short against Montville and fell 24-14.
Jacob Bitar put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Millburn fell victim to Passaic Valley's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Hornets at home and fell 41-0. While losing is never fun, Millburn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Passaic Valley is ranked 93rd).
Chatham's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Roxbury and 6-2 Parsippany Hills (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 71.5% over those games). As for Millburn, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Chatham might still be hurting after the 49-28 loss they got from Millburn when the teams last played back in September of 2019. Thankfully for Chatham, Shane Sullivan (who threw for 411 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 14.2 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 101 yards on only ten carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
