Softball Recap: Sheldon Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

After only one run in their last contest, Sheldon made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cosumnes Oaks on Wednesday. The Huskies came out on top against the Wolfpack by a score of 10-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-2 on April 4th.

Kwinci Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nicole Camacho-Vasquez, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Kennedy, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Sheldon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cosumnes Oaks only posted a batting average of .241.

Sheldon has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7-1 record this season. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Sheldon is set to face off against their familiar foe Pleasant Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Huskies 3.1, the Eagles 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Cosumnes Oaks will challenge rival Monterey Trail at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
