The Coronado Islanders will face off against the Morse Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Morse took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Coronado, who comes in off a win.
Coronado's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past San Diego 10-0. Considering the Islanders have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ali Pecus was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Sammy Aldworth and Cali Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Aldworth went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Smith scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Smith has posted since back in April of 2024. Fiona Ratliff was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
Coronado kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Morse unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mission Bay.
Morse saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reylyn Sakamoto, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Morse's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Coronado, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Coronado hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Morse struggles in that department as they've averaged .334. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Coronado's way against Morse in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Coronado made off with a 7-1 win. Do the Islanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
