Football Recap: Sequoyah Skates Past Dewey with Ease

Sequoyah got themselves on the board against Dewey on Friday, but Dewey never followed suit. They blew past the Bulldoggers, posting a 40-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won four contests by 22 points or more so far this season.

Crayton Sapp continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 111 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries, while also throwing for 196 yards and two touchdowns. Shaystin Duncan was another key player, picking up 80 receiving yards and two scores.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Sequoyah proved: they limited Dewey to a paltry 2.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Casen Leep for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sequoyah didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.6.

Sequoyah didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hudson Hendricks and Eli Waterdown. Waterdown got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Sequoyah pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.0 points on average over those games. As for Dewey, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
