Chaparral has gone 7-2 against Castle View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Wolverines will head out to take on the Sabercats at 4:15 p.m. The last four games Chaparral has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Chaparral is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Fairview just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 10-9.
Chaparral got a good showing from Breck Johnson, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Josh McWilliams was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madden Kretzer, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Castle View had taken Highlands Ranch down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Sabercats fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 5-3. The Sabercats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Gabriel Grandy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Tyler Feldhake made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Tommy Feldhake, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Castle View's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Chaparral, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Chaparral has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Castle View struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Chaparral came up short against Castle View in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 7-3. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
