The Gulliver Prep Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Marathon Dolphins at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Gulliver Prep will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Gulliver Prep ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They secured a 46-42 W over Calvary Christian Academy. Given Gulliver Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Calvary Christian Academy is ranked 399th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gulliver Prep found their leader in underclassman Mikayla Brown, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Podvin, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Marathon lost to First Baptist Academy at home by a decisive 50-34 margin on Friday.
Gulliver Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Marathon, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Gulliver Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Marathon when the teams last played back in December of 2022, winning 41-33. Will Gulliver Prep repeat their success, or does Marathon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
