This season hasn't been kind to the Liberty Eagles, who are still winless after their fifth matchup. They were dealt a 74-19 defeat at the hands of Millbrook on Friday. Liberty lost against Millbrook in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-30 score last time.
It was another big night for Jaliah Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds for Millbrook. The contest was Jackson's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Essence O'Banion, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Liberty's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.5 points per game. As for Millbrook, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.
Liberty will be home for the holidays to greet Handley at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Handley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Liberty in Virginia (Handley is ranked tenth, while Liberty is ranked 343rd). As for Millbrook, they will head out on the road to face off against James Wood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Josie Russell and Jackson.
