The Chambers Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 70-17 loss at the hands of Mallard Creek. Chambers was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-10.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Chambers struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Mallard Creek pulled down 22 offensive rebounds.
Mallard Creek was led to victory by Elle Stone and Lili Booker. Stone scored 14 points along with three steals, while Booker scored 16 points. Stone is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. My'Asia Young was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Chambers' loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Mallard Creek, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chambers will take on West Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. West Mecklenburg is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Mallard Creek, they will head out on the road to square off against West Charlotte at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. West Charlotte will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Mallard Creek is ranked 14th).
