Claxton (Ga.) saw its 13-point lead shrink to five, but hung on to defeat
Portal (Ga.) 13-8 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Cornelius Taylor to
Evan Credeur in the second quarter, the Tigers led 13-0 at the half.
Portal's only touchdown came on a pass in the fourth quarter.
Claxton went into the matchup giving up only 17.8 points per game.
The loss comes after Portal defeated Jenkins County 28-16 last week. With the win CHS extended its winning streak to three games.
Claxton (4-2) goes up against Savannah Country Day in an A Region 3A game matchup next week, while Portal (1-4) locks horns with Savannah Christian also in an A Region 3A game.
