David Posnack Jewish Day lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Wednesday was a bit more commanding. They were outmatched by Pine Crest at home and fell 55-22. David Posnack Jewish Day was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-14.
Despite the loss, David Posnack Jewish Day saw an underclassman step up: Emma Azafrani scored seven points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Donna Klein Jewish Academy waltzed into their match on Wednesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They walked away with a 67-60 victory over Grandview Prep. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meldung was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 38 points and 20 rebounds. She also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. Sadye Eichman was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds.
David Posnack Jewish Day now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Donna Klein Jewish Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Monday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: David Posnack Jewish Day have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Donna Klein Jewish Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 4.2 rebounds per game. Given David Posnack Jewish Day's sizeable advantage in that area, Donna Klein Jewish Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
