Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Odyssey Charter School Titans walked away with it. They really took it to the Hustlers for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-10 win on the road. The victory was some much needed relief for Odyssey Charter School as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
Leading Odyssey Charter School to victory were Melissa Mayfield and Natalia DeJesus-Bruno. Mayfield scored eight points along with nine rebounds and six steals, while DeJesus-Bruno scored 14 points along with eight steals. Mayfield has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Reese Florin was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five assists and four steals.
Odyssey Charter School's win bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9.
Odyssey Charter School's road trip will continue as they head out to face Edgewood at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th. Edgewood's defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so Odyssey Charter School's offense will have their work cut out for them. Melbourne Central Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
