The Crest Lancers were the 72-36 winner over the Altoona-Midway Jets when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Crest opened the new year with a less-than-successful 39-35 defeat to they on Friday.
Despite the loss, Crest still got an impressive performance from Ryan Golden, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 18 rebounds. The game was Golden's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Zimmerman, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Crest were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Altoona-Midway only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
It was another big night for William Stackhouse, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds for Altoona-Midway. Stackhouse is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jacob Meigs was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Crest now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Altoona-Midway, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crest will take on Marmaton Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Marmaton Valley is ranked 256th, while Crest is ranked 261st). As for Altoona-Midway, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oswego at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Oswego focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Friday.
