Dixie has gone 9-1 against Desert Hills recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Dixie Flyers will host the Desert Hills Thunder at 7:00 p.m. Dixie is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.5 points per game this season.
Dixie is headed into the match having just posted their biggest victory since January 2nd on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 58-35 margin over Snow Canyon. Given the Flyers' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Warriors are ranked 85th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dixie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyson Forsey, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Jay Jay Davey, who went 8 of 11 en route to 17 points and five rebounds.
Dixie was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Snow Canyon only racked up six assists.
Meanwhile, Desert Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 41-39 heartbreaker at the hands of Pine View. The game marked the Thunder's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Dixie will need focus on slowing down Jack Openshaw, one of several Desert Hills players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points and five boards. Luke Terry was another key player, putting up eight points.
Desert Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Dixie, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Dixie has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Desert Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Dixie didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Desert Hills when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 61-56 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Desert Hills' Ben Chase, who went 6 of 8 en route to 19 points and five rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Dixie still be able to contain Chase? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
