The Smyer Bobcats''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight loss. They fell just short of Plains by a score of 24-22. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Smyer in their matchups with Plains: they've now lost three in a row.
Smyer's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Peyton Casillas, who rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 107 yards and a touchdown. Casillas was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 58 yards.
Tyler Vargas was his usual excellent self, rushing for 98 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 270 yards and a touchdown. Kyeson Cox was another key contributor, gaining 96 total yards and two touchdowns.
Smyer's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. As for Plains, their victory bumped their record up to 2-7.
Smyer does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Plains also has no future games currently scheduled.
