The MAST Community Charter Panthers will square off against the Bristol Warriors at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. MAST Community Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.
MAST Community Charter is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since May 3, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Collegium Charter. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Cougar: they've now won four in a row.
Nicholas Carsley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Carsley was also solid in the batter's box, earning one run and three stolen bases.
In other batting news, Mason Haldeman was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. David Kondravy was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bristol, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let Renaissance Academy get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Monday. Considering the Warriors have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like MAST Community Charter, Bristol also got a great game from a two-way player: Eddy Diaz. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Diaz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Guy, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Bristol is undefeated when Guy posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Trae Anthony, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Bristol always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Bristol's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for MAST Community Charter, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. MAST Community Charter has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Bristol struggles in that department as they've averaged .520. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
MAST Community Charter couldn't quite finish off Bristol when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 8-6. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
